Environmental Services

"What is of primary importance...is that we are focused on - and we are achieving - real results"

- BPA Administrator Steve Wright

As neighbors, professionals, and fellow stewards of the Pacific Northwest's natural resources, BPA strives to continually improve the environmental performance of our power, transmission, and fish and wildlife activities. We work to ensure that our activities are in compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulations and that the public is informed and involved in BPA's business decisions that may affect our environment.

We contribute to the environmental and business success of our activities by ensuring the environment is taken into account from the earliest stages of planning. This includes assessing of potential effects of our business decisions on air, water, wetlands, endangered species, cultural resources, the social environment, economies, and other resources.

In addition to assessing and monitoring the environmental impacts of our business decisions, we work closely with numerous Federal and State agencies, Tribes, landowners, and the public to protect and recover endangered species, protect and preserve our cultural resources, and reduce pollution and manage hazardous materials.
