Mid-Columbia Coho Restoration Program (DOE/EIS-0425)
Chelan and Okanogan counties, Washington

  • PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

The Mid Columbia Coho Restoration Program is an effort to restore coho salmon to the Methow and Wenatchee basins. This program is implemented by the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation and funded by Bonneville Power Administration (BPA). The program involves the use of existing hatchery facilities, construction of some new permanent and temporary facilities for broodstock development, and construction or modification of existing ponds or side channels to serve as semi-natural rearing areas for juvenile coho salmon. Over the next 20 to 25 years, the program goals are to develop a locally adapted, self-sustaining population of coho in the Mid-Columbia Basin capable of supporting harvest.

  • CURRENT STATUS:

BPA will address comments in the final EA, which will be available to the public in September 2014. Based on the analysis in the final EA and comments received, BPA will prepare either a finding of no significant impact and decide whether to proceed with the project, or an environmental impact statement if there is the potential for significant environmental impacts.
