Leaning Juniper II - Jones Canyon Substation Expansion Wind Interconnection Project

  • PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

BPA has been asked by Iberdrola Renewables, Inc. (Iberdrola), to interconnect up to 200 megawatts of electricity generated from the proposed Leaning Juniper II Wind Power Project in Gilliam County, Oregon, to the Federal Columbia River Transmission System. Iberdrola would independently build, own and operate the wind project and their associated facilities.

Iberdrola acquired site certification through the State of Oregon Energy Facility Siting Council (EFSC) on September 21, 2007.

  • CURRENT STATUS:

The BPA interconnection project has completed the environmental review stage and is proceeding to construction. BPA issued a Record of Decision (ROD) under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) on April 3, 2009. BPA believes the decision to interconnect the wind project is consistent with BPA's Business Plan ROD, August 1995 and Business Plan Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), June 1995.
