Bandon-Rogue Transmission Line Rebuild Project
Coos & Curry Counties, Oregon

• PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

  BPA made the decision to rebuild the Bandon-Rogue 115-kilovolt transmission line. The 46-mile long, wood pole line extends from the BPA Bandon substation to the BPA Rogue substation near the town of Nesika Beach in Coos and Curry Counties, Oregon. The project includes replacing wood poles, associated structural components, and conductor, installing 19 new structures, improvements to some existing access roads, construction of less than 1 mile of new access roads, and some vegetation removal. The rebuild will enable BPA to maintain reliable electric service and avoid risks to the public and worker safety. The line will continue to operate at 115-kV.

• CURRENT STATUS:

  BPA decided to rebuild the Bandon-Rogue transmission line based on the Final Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI). The final EA includes a Floodplain Statement of Findings and a Mitigation Action Plan that outlines the mitigation measures that are being implemented. Construction began in May 2011 and will be completed in winter 2012.
