Any work to coordinate with other parties involved in fish and wildlife work. Covers both landowner and regional coordination. Does not cover technical guidance (see WE#122, Provide Technical Review).
Deliverables (recommended) Rules and Examples (work element scenarios and associated rules)
Rule 1: Coordination in support of ESA or NEPA, or other environmental compliance work should not be included in the Coordination work element. Instead, it should be split out as a separate work element, WE# 165, Produce Environmental Compliance Documentation.
Example:

WE: Coordination
WE Title: CREP Projects
WE Description: Coordinate with landowners to develop CREP projects.

WE: Produce Environmental Compliance Documentation
WE Title: CREP Projects
WE Description: Coordinate with BPA staff and landowners to obtain environmental compliance for upcoming CREP projects.
Rule 2: If the coordination covers a wide geographic range or multiple locations, you may still lump it under a single work element. However, you may wish to break the work into separate work elements if it provides clarity or better supports project management.
Example:

Option 1 (lumping)

WE: Coordination
WE Title: CREP Projects
WE Description: Coordinate with landowners to develop CREP projects on Welch Creek and the McCloud River.

Option 2 (splitting)

WE: Coordination
WE Title: CREP Projects Welch Creek
WE Description: Coordinate with landowners to develop CREP projects on Welch Creek.

WE: Coordination
WE Title: CREP Projects McCloud River
WE Description: Coordinate with landowners to develop CREP projects on the McCloud River.
Milestones (may include)

  • Hold/attend a coordination meeting
  • Develop publications to advertise program
  • Submit copies of landowner agreements to BPA
  • Monthly communication of coordination activities (e.g., meetings, contacts, agreements signed)
